How
can a factory make truly ‘custom’ treatments? The simple answer for
draperies and valances is, “We don’t think they can.” That’s why we have always
had our own in-store workroom. This allows us to offer many custom features and
options not available through other sources, and to oversee all the details
required in our finished treatments. It is these details and options we offer
which make your selections truly ‘custom’.
Sylvia
Ruiz, our
Workroom
Manager, has
over 14 years experience with us specializing in fabrication of all sorts of
fabric creations including draperies, panels, Roman Shades, and an endless
variety of Valances and Top Treatments. Many of our creations require
individual patterns or ‘mock ups’ be completed prior to the finished products.
A
visit to the Design
Studio will
allow you to see the workroom where it’s all done. Fabrics are checked against
the actual sample you selected from, and are then ‘candled’ or screened over a
backlight for flaws prior to cutting. They continue on to the sewing and sizing
process. The workroom u tilizes various commercial sewing machines including sergers, blind hemmers, straight/zig zag, and tackers.
It includes larger oversize tables to accommodate the volumes of fabric. Our
large ‘pre-hang’ area is where all draperies are hung, steam-groomed to
perfection, and inspected prior to installation.
The
work area also includes our rod shop, where our cut-to-measure hardware is
assembled. And local repairs are available for many of the shades and blinds we
offer.
